1. Al Green at Ravinia: I'd never been to Ravinia although I'd heard about it. A co-worker had a ticket she didn't want. I thought to myself, "Hell, I'm already off on Fridays and haven't been to a concert in a couple of years. Go!" And so I found someone to go with me and off we went. It was great. I could barely see Al Green from the lawn seats, but I enjoyed watching couples, friends and even kids dancing around to songs like "Love and Happiness" and "Let's Stay Together." Although I enjoy "Tired of Being Alone," my all-time favorite song of Al Green's "Simply Beautiful." (By default, I'm pretty crazy about "Their Eyes Were Watching God" for the song and Halle Berry and Michael Ealy together. Whoa! That kiss!) Pat Quinn pronounced Friday Al Green Day and I have no qualms about it.

2) Justin Halpern's "I Suck at Girls": I thought "Sh*t My Dad Says" was funny as ever and the television show was pretty good. Like the first book, I'm laughing out loud while reading this one, too. His experiences with women are so awkward at times, and the advice he gets from not only his father but his boss is beyond crazy. My favorite lines so far: "Why did you chase after her like a rapist?" Dan asked. "I just chased her. I didn't do it like a rapist," I snapped. (A girl he asked out took off running, broke left and he just kept running after her like a lost soul.)
3) Weather nice enough to walk in: Today I walked to the bank, to the CTA stop, to a Best Buy location, to the post office, strolled around downtown to make a quick stop at work, got off the bus early and walked home, and to the Metra to go to Ravinia. I walked and walked and walked (even with a perfectly nice working automobile), and it felt so nice to be able to walk around with a sleeveless top on, some  jean capris and enjoy the sun. One hour and 45 minutes worth of straight walking, and that's not including Ravinia strolling. I thought it was so pretty outside that I never even bothered to put on my shades (although I had to style my hair twice because the heat sweated it out). My headphones broke (hence the Best Buy visit) and even after I got replacements, I never turned my mp3 player on. I was too satisfied just hearing the sounds of summer and feeling the sun.

4) Metra antics: While I could've gone without the super grown folks on the Metra playing Truth or Dare and one lady telling all the passengers to look at her while she proceeded to lift her shirt up and flash her breasts (the conductor had to force himself to stop laughing while he told her to knock it off), it was actually cool to be on the Metra. I haven't been on one in a year or so because I'd been sticking to CTA, but it was more comfortable. Yeah, there were some drunk folks (courtesy of Ravinia) but there were definitely some nice-looking folks to people watch. The conductor was gorgeous. A couple of guys sitting across from me were, too. That's another perk of concerts.

5) Pillow donation/new couch: Before I sound like a stalker, I'll just say this and be done with it. I went ahead and gave up the pillows from my old couch to the same guy who got my old couch. I already thought he was surprisingly handsome (that's not fair to assume everybody who has a Craigslist ad must look weird, hell, I had one, too) when he came to pick up the couch, but he came to get the pillows in a suit (after work) today. I'm not the type who goes crazy over a man in a suit, but he looked pretty damn snazzy.  This is a superficial reason to smile, but whatever. I smiled. He's a cutie in a debonair way, even in casual clothes! (And no, there will be no more entries about this topic. I legitimately didn't need the pillows after getting my new couch on Thursday. Love my new couch, by the way, but I have to get used to the brighter color. Time to accessorize!)
