I love working on the health section of the Tribune. It's my favorite part of the job. Working on Entertainment news is a close second primarily because of my background in being an entertainment reporter but only when I cover artists I'm interested in. However, health is first because I'm fascinated by all of it and always learn something new. From high school on, although I've never been thrilled with sports (minus bowling, pool and swimming) I've always been interested in dance. And by dance I mean all sorts of dance. I was in a dance competition in my elementary school days (MC Lyte's "Stop, Look, Listen) and enjoyed the hell out of a dance competition in college (Mia's "Case of the Ex"). I've taken countless dance courses in hip-hop dance (real hip-hop instructors, not that pop shit that some instructors memorize from music videos, I mean instructors who battle right after they leave class) at The Discovery Center, Bally Total Fitness (before it was LA Fitness) and Flirty Girl Fitness. I even took up belly dancing, pole dancing and "video vixen."

Exercising can be annoying to do. I can't go so far as to say aerobics are fun. Although I really enjoyed the effects of weight training, I know I'm in the minority on that one. But music was what made all the difference. I've worked out to aerobics DVDs (and tapes). I've watched television while I work out. I've even taken yoga classes with nothing but candles, quiet and that low "soothing" music in the background. But nothing compares to dancing to fast-paced music. I'll take a high impact workout to my favorite songs over a low-impact yoga course every single time. It's the reason I have yet to get tired of DVD workouts like "Hip-Hop Abs." Strange enough I like "Killer Abs," which has no music but mainly because the workout is so fierce. As much as I enjoy the flexibility with Gwen Lawrence's "Fit Body Yoga," I think she talks entirely too much. And if I hear talking while I'm exercising, I want it to be to a beat that I can groove to.

Click this article "Fitness playlists flow to the beats per minutes." I enjoyed reading it because it was so true.

My top five favorite songs to work out to:
1) Mia's "Bamboo Banga"
2) Musiq Soulchild's "Radio"
3) Justin Timberlake's "My Love" (tied with "Sexy Back")
4) Beyonce's "Run the World (Girls)"
5. Rich Boy "Boy Looka Here"
