1. Justin Bieber's "Never Say Never" film: When I saw Street Kingdom dancing to a Justin Bieber song on "America's Best Dance Crew," I wasn't just amused. I was surprised that the song fit them so well. I was fanatical about Immature, so I get the whole teenage celebrity crush deal. I remember running under a (parked) truck because I saw Romeo waving in a window at the end of a concert, but the level of the Beliebers and Bieber Fever is nuts! I finally rented the video through Netflix and now I understand. He's not just cute. He can really lay the charm on thick, and he seems right at home with any lady (or girl) you put in front of him. I loved the video. I actually liked it so much that I kept it an extra few days and will probably buy it. No cougars here, but that "You Smile" song makes me want to buy his CD.
2. Marion Meadows "Player's Club" song: I've never heard of him until today but a buddy of mine (Dina) put me onto him. I miss volunteering for the Hyde Park festivities, and I'm looking forward to the Hyde Park Jazz Festival this year. I dig jazz and I used to play the alto sax so mold the two together and that's an automatic winner. Click below to hear the song.
3. Potatoes and onions:
I do not like to cook. I'll probably never like to cook. My grandfather is in a billion cooking clubs and has a massive amount of cookbooks. (He even reads them when he wants to go to sleep.) My parents enjoy cooking. Pretty much everybody on both sides of my family is full of cooks, especially both of my late grandmothers and my 99-year-old great, great aunt. I still don't like it. But being surrounded by a food team in a newsroom and being on a food blog team
will make you curious about trying new things. Since I update CT's health section
, I just blend recipes I read from them with ways to make it more healthy. I recently read a study about the health benefits of baked potatoes with the skin on them and figured, "Hmm, let me try this out." Check out my latest photo gallery
(about Memorial Day healthy eating) to get a better idea of it. I made some last night for the first time and loved them! 4. Keenan Cahill videos: I subscribe to his YouTube channel
because I'm entertained by what he's going to sing next. I also defend him from the assholes who just love to get on his videos to say something negative about him. Leave that boy alone. Let him enjoy his life lip synching away.5. Caesar haircuts: It's just an automatic win for me to see a brotha with that cut. I like locks, too. French braids are OK, but after awhile it just gets a little old. Those feminine ponytails with barettes and beads should be dead promptly. All that pimp Shirley Temple mess has to go! But a nice, low cut (waves optional) is hot.
